Trends I’m seeing

I had the pleasure of attending the KBIS expo this year to see what the biggest brands are promoting. That combined with seeing was people are designing and picking out in the regular world give me a pretty good grip on current and upcoming trends.

So what’s in right now?

Cabinets in blues and greens. Right now people are gravitating toward muted green and navy, or dark blues.

Zellige tiles. I don’t see this going anywhere anytime soon. Everyone loves the gradual changes in tone from tile to tile with the uneven, hand made looking edges. These tiles are popular in every color and shape.

Predominately white quartz counters still reign supreme. They are durable, cost effective and neutral. CRS specifically has some really impressive patterns these days.

What trends are coming?

Cabinets in warm tones. Every large cabinet vendor at KBIS was showcasing a new red color door style. Some had yellow as well, so warm tones might be coming down the pipe.

For upcoming tile trends I am see pattern all over the place. I see it on the floor, on the walls, using multiple solid color tiles to create the pattern, and tiles that are the pattern. It’s really fun and I’m here for it!

I already see quite a bit of wild and crazy marble/quartzite being used and I think that amount is only going to go up. People are wandering back to the love of character and imperfection after years of white on white.

What are some trends that you hope are coming around, or coming back around?
